My wife and I visited Grand Lake, Colorado the last week of July, staying at a cabin located just outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.   The timed-entry system in place at the park required a reservation to enter between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM for most areas of the park (the popular Bear Lake Corridor required reservations from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM).  Since we were staying only a mile from the lesser-used west entrance to the park,  entering before the timed entry hours each morning was not a problem for us.  However, the start of the time entry hours at 9:00 AM created an 8:30 AM rush hour on the popular eastern entrances, so by the time those crowds had worked their way up to the top of Trail Ridge Road, there was traffic and very limited parking available.  Since the peak morning photography light was done by then,  we just headed back to Grand Lake and relaxed the rest of the day or did other activities.

It had been over 30 years since I had been to some of these areas, back when i lived in Denver.  It was nice to capture some new photos of familiar scenes,  and visit some corners of the park I had never been to before, like Chasm Falls located off the Old Fall River Road which is only open for a brief period each summer.  Below are some of my favorites from the trip.
